{There is also a bright spot and a small kink at this point. As the voltage builds up the tube starts to conduct but cannot hold the arc.}
Yesterday C.G. smith of Raytheon inc. brought over his spectroscope and we measured the wave lengths of the radiation of the light from the stroboscope built for the M.I.T. lab. by McClure and Standard. 12 m.f. were used and the 600 volt tap. The 3 ohms resister in the discharge was varied from .5 to 3 oms and the following wave lengths measured when the resistance was .5. These lines do not appear when there is 3 ohms or more in series with the tube.
