- The next scheme to be investigated is the "Synchronous DC. Motion." Current is adjusted in the field circuit to hold speed constant. This system needs a reference frequency. To stay in synchronism with Either a Tuning fork of an oscillating circuit will do.
The mechanical was tried first. A buzzer outfit was built. A transformer in the lines to it gave a secondary voltage of a certain frequency. The frequency was about 120 cycles and was put on the grids in parallel.
The output was not steady. Beats from various sources caused troubles. This type of oscillation was not investigated very thoroughly.
