Description: (curated)

(Cont.)
Doc and Fred Barstow “took pictures across the Charles River” from the top of the “east wing of MIT” with the nighttime equipment. He mentions using an 8×10 aerial camera, condensers weighing about 720 pounds, a spiral flash lamp in a reflector designed by Barstow, and Kodatron and Eastman film stock. They experimented with different placements of the camera and the flash, and noted that reflected dust particles in the air reduced the effectiveness of the flash. Samples of the photos taken are pasted onto pages 11 and 13 of this notebook. (JB)
