Description: (curated)
Edgerton uses multi-flash photography techniques to demonstrate the design of a cycloid curve: that is, the curve traced by a point on the rim of a circular wheel as the wheel rolls along a straight line. In this case the point is actually a square that can be seen tumbling along the cycloid curve as the wheel (faintly visible) rolls along the table away from the man at the right. (CC)
