Jacques-Yves Cousteau first came to MIT to meet Doc Edgerton on April 29, 1952. Within hours, Doc notes in his lab notebook, Cousteau was in the MIT Alumni pool testing one of Doc's underwater cameras -- as shown in this short clip. Thus began a deep friendship, and over 30 years of collaborations on oceanographic expeditions around the world.
