Thyratron realy for swtiching the excitation to a synchronous motor at the most favorable angle.
An electrical device which can close the field switch of a synchornous motor at an angular displacement of about zero electral degrees makes the pulling into step smooth and allows the motor to pull in much easier than if it is closed at 180 electrical degrees.
The switching scheme of the Brown B[?] Company is potential and accomplishes this action according to the description of the operation.
the excitation would not come on until the frequency of this individual [?] in the rotor was small. This circuit does not have enough good [?].

Field discharge in series with a condenser so that any ac can go through.
I wonder what an induction motor will do if it has a rectifier in its rotor circuit? This will make a good experiment to try.
